Composer Segun Akinola – an alumnus of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and part of 2017’s BAFTA Breakthrough Brit programme – created an eclectic soundtrack for the 2018 series of Doctor Who, including a fresh take on the famous Ron Grainer theme tune.

Doctor Who’s executive producer, Matt Strevens, describes working with Segun on the latest series as a “total joy and a musical revelation. His mission was to provide a new soundscape for a new era, a new version of the show and for Chris Chibnall’s vision. In that, he excelled and then some. We wanted to make 11 standalone movies and he has given us 11 standalone scores.”
